ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Choreographic Lab is a series of research workshops for young choreographers, dramaturgs, dancers and performers, running from August to November 2023. Throughout the Lab programme, a short film will be produced documenting the process of the work. The director of the film will periodically follow and document the workshops with a camera.
The workshops will be led by Petra Hrašćanec and Nenad Sinkauz (HR), Magdalena Reiter (PL/SI) and Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik (SI) together with a guest musician. The short film will be directed by Matjaž Mrak.
The Choreographic Lab is open to choreographers and dancers, as well as other performing artists (dramaturgs, actors, performers) interested in developing choreographic principles.
The working process of the lab will be based on collaboration between the participants and the project leaders. Participants will work on their choreographic materials both together with their mentors and individually.
The process will be based on the methodologies, thematic starting points and tools proposed by the mentors, as well as on the creative research and methodologies of the participants.

DOCUMENTARY FILM AND PRESENTATIONS
On the last two days of each workshop session, the participants will film the created set or improvised materials together with the director Matjaž Mrak. The short documentary film, produced as a result of the programme, will be premiered in November 2023 as part of the Živa festival at Španski borci in Ljubljana and will later be available online.
Each of the participants, in agreement with the mentors, will also have the opportunity to present their choreographic materials as part of the Živa Festival in November 2023.
There will also be an opportunity for an informal workshop demonstration at the end of each session.
APPLICATIONS
Lab participants will be selected on the basis of a CV, a short video of their work and a motivation letter. Maximum seven participants will be admitted to each workshop’s session.
Selected artists can attend the lab free of charge. Participation in the full programme is recommended, but it is possible to apply for individual programme sessions only.
The programme is open to professional and semi-professional choreographers, dramaturgs, dancers and performers from the age of 19.
